My Approach to Helping
I believe the answers to most of our life questions come from within us. Therapy provides you with a safe, non-judgmental, supportive space for you to better understand yourself, where you’re at, where you want to be, and how to get there. As a therapist, my role is to help you navigate through these processes using a client-centered, strength-based approach. I also have experience working with adolescents and adults with depression, anxiety, trauma, and those experiencing life transitions.
With couples, I emphasize good communication skills as part of the foundation of any relationship and utilize my training and experience to help couples break negative cycles and see themselves as being on the same team, rather than as adversaries as they work through specific issues that are a challenge to having a healthy and fulfilling relationship.
In my previous career, I was a proponent of diversity and social justice through education. This rich experience informs my work as a therapist where I connect with and support individuals of different backgrounds, whether it is race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, class, sexuality, or religionspirituality. I can also provide services in Mandarin.
