My Approach to Helping
Hi, my name is Joyelle Hines. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have been a therapist for over ten years. My therapy style is compassionate but direct and honest. I practice cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and reality therapy. I treat each person as an individual with individual needs. At this time, I am only working in the evenings to accommodate after-hour clientele. I am experienced with individuals experiencing Stress, Anxiety, Relationship issues, Family conflicts, and HIVAIDS; I am also experienced in Addictions, Career challenges, Depression, Coping with life changes, Compassion fatigue, and Bipolar Disorder. I am also efficient with knowledgeable experience of the working poor.
I have grown and worked with the application process in applying social security disabilities to a wide range of other community services. Years of experience working as a case manager allowed me to connect to many agencies in many different realms. I believe in a holistic approach; it can take a village to assist clientele. My communication style is open and honest. I am compassionate, and I enjoy helping others. I believe our sessions are the way to explore different ways of working through many different situations until we come to a conclusion that is workable for the clients. My job is to offer full support.
I worked for years as a case manager providing services to underserved populations. I have an extensive background in the LGBTQ+ community, homeless, incarcerated, HIVAIDS, and severely mentally ill populations. What drives me as a therapist is knowing that I can possibly be the one person that has compassion, a listening ear, offer no judgment, and offers unconditional support. I try to let my clients know that no matter what is happening in their lives, they are not alone. SMART goals are used to assist the resident in setting goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timed. I also believe that goals work as a moving object that sometimes needs to be reset.
