My Approach to Helping
My name is Julie Hansford and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with almost 20 years of counseling experience with a Master's (UNC-Chapel Hill) and undergraduate degree (Meredith College) in Social Work. I work with clients across the lifespan from young children to adults. I have a strong passion for adolescents, parenting support, and women’s issues. My counseling style is warm, nonjudgmental, direct, and goal-oriented. I value the working relationship with my clients and really take the time to get to know you in order to provide the best care. I have extensive training in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, adoption, parenting issues, and relationship difficulties. I utilize a variety of evidence-informed treatment approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Schema Therapy, Parent Child Interaction Therapy, Attachment Self-Regulation and Competency, and Attachment Biobehavioral Catch-up. During our sessions, we will work collaboratively to navigate life’s challenges and work to heal and process past wounds. We will build a toolbox of coping skills to use during stressful times and build confidence in your abilities overall. If this approach seems like a good fit for what you are looking for, I look forward to our partnership. I am confident that therapy will help you to improve your mental wellness so that you can live life to its fullest!
