My Approach to Helping
My goal is to help you find meaning in both your suffering and success. I am well-rounded, non-judgmental, empathetic and analytical and can draw from a number of therapy models depending on your particular need. I'm solution focused and rely heavily on asking the right questions, offering observations and informed hypotheses as well as active interventions. I offer resources that can be leveraged outside therapy to help you better understand yourself and improve your situation. I also offer E.M.D.R. as one of my practice modalities, I'm very trauma informed and attachment theory informed. I go the extra mile to help my clients achieve positive outcomes whether they are faced with an acute mental health challenge or are seeking personal and professional growth.
More Info About My Practice
I offer a 30 minute complimentary introductory meeting to potential new clients. I'm out-of-network for all insurance providers but most cover some portion of my hourly fee. I provide my clients with the necessary documentation to receive reimbursement. I recommend you check your coverage before we begin working together and I am happy to provide you with the information your provider needs to quote you an exact rate of coverage.
My clients are largely result oriented professionals, many of whom work in big tech. I also work with professionals in other fields including the creative domain. I have experience working with a wide variety of mental and emotional challenges including serious trauma, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, work life stress and trauma, self limiting beliefs, men's issues related to emotions and relationships, challenges inherent to the trans community, parenting, childhood trauma, narcissistic abuse, and medication support. (In regard to the latter, I help clients identify when medications might be necessary and beneficial to the therapeutic process and can recommend a prescriber who meets their needs. I talk them through what they can expect from the process and how to best communicate with their prescriber in order to really dial in their medications. I help them learn to identify situations which indicate a possible med adjustment is necessary, and when to employ their prescriber's med contingency plans due to external circumstances become too difficult to manage with baseline meds alone. I help clients stay med compliant by working with them to notice and track their moods and behaviors to know the difference between when a med adjustment is needed vs use of a med contingency plan is more appropriate.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
Studies have shown time and time again that the biggest predictor of therapy success is your relationship with your therapist. As a client, this means feeling like your therapist "gets" you. If you feel like your therapist is off track in relation to what you are trying to convey or you feel misunderstood, that's probably a sign that you need to keep looking for the right fit. Typically, you should have a sense of this within one to two sessions.
