My Approach to Helping
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who has worked with adults aged 18+ in community mental health and other clinical settings. My areas of focus include depression, anxiety (including panic disorder and OCD), ADHD, addiction (including alcohol use disorders), young adult issues, and relationship challenges.
I tailor my treatment approach to my client’s needs. My approach may include elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, narrative therapy, and insight-oriented psychotherapy. My clients often tell me that I am approachable and caring and I am able to make them feel comfortable and at ease.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from Cornell University and subsequently earned a PhD in Philosophy from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I worked as a philosophy professor before switching gears and earning my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Saint Thomas. I also obtained a certificate of Addiction Studies from the University of Minnesota and I am a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I have been practicing psychotherapy for more than six years.
