My Approach to Helping
I believe that human have different possibilities and capacity for personal growth. I aware of the vulnerability that comes with therapy journey, and I build strong therapeutic relationship, trust, safety, empathy, respect, and acceptance. I also believed that connection and self-reflection acting as an important part in our relationship. I am committed to empower you to develop emotional awareness and self-compassion to bring positive change.
My approach is to compassionately and walk alongside you, empowering space for you to come in as you truly are. In collaboration, I worked with the client together to reframe their narratives, looking at a thought and feeling from another lens, as well as build various coping strategies. These approaches help you identify your emotions, empower you to explore, reflection, and develop a new perspective in a meaningful way of your life.
More Info About My Practice
With various more than 8 years of clinical experience specialize in individual, children and family, I have been working in Child, Family and Community Services, Special Education Needs and Disability Child & Family Service, Women’s Shelter, and Department of Psychiatry of a Hospital. I provide assessment and treatment for clients with variety needs and issues, such as those who have depression, anxiety, relationships distress, childhood issue, couple and family conflicts, LGBTQ, gender issue, parenting, single families challenges, special education needs and disability children and their families, as well as groups and workshops at school and community agency. I create a space that is non-judgemental, empathetic, supportive and professional therapy, using Narrative Therapy, Satir Model, Bowen Family Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-based Approach, and Gottman Approach.
My Role as a Therapist
I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. I hold a Bachelor of Art in Psychology from the University of California Davis. I completed a Master of Family-Centred Practice and Family Therapy, and graduated in Master of Social Work from the University of Hong Kong. I received Child-Centered Play Therapy training in Hong Kong, as well as techniques training from CAPT (Canadian Association for Play Therapy). I am also a certified practitioner of projective drawing art in assessment and certified in pastel hope art.
