My Approach to Helping
Hi! My name is Kacey and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of Louisiana, Utah, and Texas. I've practiced in the social work field for about 9 years now after graduating from The University of Georgia with my Master of Social Work degree. I have worked in multiple settings with clients who are dealing with a variety of issues. My work has been mostly focused on helping people overcome depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, self-esteem issues, stress, relationship issues, anger, and body image issues. I especially enjoy helping people through grief, and I have a passion for working with survivors of suicide loss. Let’s work together to see how you can improve your life today!
My counseling style is person-centered and empathetic. I believe everyone deserves to be heard and treated with respect. I am warm and enthusiastic, but I also think direct feedback is helpful for clients. I align with a solution-focused therapy model and also use cognitive-behavioral therapy, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing techniques in sessions. I especially enjoy working with people who are ambivalent or unsure about making a change in their lives. If you are feeling stuck, there is a reason - and I would love to work through that with you! Whether this is your first time in therapy or your hundredth time, I believe you have the power to break down whatever wall is standing in your way today! I have a warm and empathetic approach, but I also think direct feedback can be helpful in therapy. I like to help people get to the root of the issue, and this can involve asking introspective questions. I enjoy helping other people see the other side of a struggle, to see a light at the end of the tunnel. That is why I am here! I like to meet the client where they are with goal setting and establish realistic and manageable goals.
The first session is about getting to know the client and building rapport together. I also like to gear this toward each person's personality and comfort with beginning therapy.
