My Approach to Helping
My approach to healing is grounded in strengths theory, utilizing and highlighting our innate resilience to support individuals on their journey through challenging times. Too often in our busy day to day activities paired with the fast paced demands of our society we spend much of our time focused on what's wrong, what we don't have, and the mistakes we've made along the way; all the while losing sight of the strengths that have supported us on our journey. I'm passionate about helping families, couples, and individuals navigate challenges, achieve fulfillment, and become engaged and empowered in their lives.
I rely on cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and strength-based approaches. I strongly endorse the notion that social and family interactions affect development, so I help my clients transition from unhealthy interactions to healing through internalized change. I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space to heal from life's challenges. I strive to find creative approaches tailored to each client's struggles and strengths. I support the exploration and development of innate talents.
Working as a therapist for the last seven years has helped me develop my understanding of mental health in a range of settings, including community mental health, juvenile corrections, work with cancer survivors, and private practice care.
