My Approach to Helping
Are you struggling with anxiety or feeling disconnected from yourself & your emotions? Have you had childhood or adulthood relationship experiences that were confusing, stressful, or traumatic? If this sounds like you, let’s connect. I specialize in helping young adult women navigate the challenges of less-than-ideal, stressful, or traumatic relationships in a personable, supportive therapy environment. With a focus on healing and empowerment, I provide trauma-informed therapy to guide young women towards emotional well-being and personal growth and development.
Please read the 'Services and Insurance' tab on my website for more information on my approach to helping clients, the client issues I treat, which insurances I am in-network with, and more. The most efficient way to contact me is through email or online form submission on my website (under the 'Contact' tab). I list my most updated availability on my website as well under the 'Hours and Availability' tab for your convenience. I now have new openings for weekly clients at the following times on Thursdays: 10 AM, 11:30 AM, 1 PM!
I use body-based therapy approaches (tuning into what is happening in your body as we process and discuss emotions and experiences) as well as attachment-based and insight-oriented therapy (therapy that focuses on helping you learn more about yourself, your feelings, and the way you relate to others). I believe that in order to change something (and experience long-lasting change), we need to have understanding and awareness of how emotions show up in our body and how relationships affect things like emotional wellbeing, feeling safe, self-confidence, communication, and more. I work to help my clients feel safe in their bodies and in the therapy setting and relationship before and during trauma work, and we constantly check-in to make sure therapy feels safe and helpful. We will work on slowing down and learning to recognize sensations and emotions within ourselves. As trauma causes disconnection with ourselves and often in our relationships with others, this approach helps us begin to be more present in our own lives and within our relationships. Another type of therapy I incorporate is “parts-work” therapy, which is a style of therapy most recently popularized by Richard Schwartz. This type of therapy helps us learn to recognize the different parts of ourselves (our “sub-personalities”) and allows for a creative and non-shaming therapeutic process of addressing the roles of each of our parts and how we can work with them (instead of against them) to become “unblocked” and heal.
I am a good fit for young adult women who are interested in using therapy to gain insight into their relationships patterns and issues, and who are looking for a therapy experience that has educational elements to it (i.e. learning about the nervous system) as well as mindfulness and somatic-focused components. I also work with anxiety issues.
