My Approach to Helping
Hi. Life is full of expectations and demands, from others and ourselves, and it can be exhausting. I know firsthand how therapeutic it can be to have a place to express whatever you're thinking and feeling without fear of judgment. From the first session, I work to make the therapy room a safe and supportive place for you.
I believe that good therapy has two main parts. The first part is to build insight into yourself by exploring your thoughts, emotions, identity, relationship dynamics, coping patterns... anything related to what you're struggling with. The second part is to put that insight into practice. Once we've identified aspects of your life that aren't working for you, we can work together to change them.
I often work with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, and trauma. As a member of the queer community myself, I also enjoy working with LGBTQ+ adults with a variety of concerns, including internalized homophobia, coming out, religious trauma, and transitioning. I've specialized in working with college students and young adults (20s-30s) for the past five years.
If you'd like to see if we're a good fit, you can schedule a free 15-minute consultation with me. In my consultations, I ask what you're looking for from therapy and provide you with an opportunity to ask me any questions you may have. Looking forward to talking with you soon!
