My Approach to Helping

Life challenges, relationship struggles, and mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and posttraumatic stress can impact your work, personal life, and your overall sense of wellness. I believe that we all have the potential to be living more well-adjusted, balanced, and peaceful lives. We just need to find the right resources. As a counselor, I provide a safe and confidential space for clients to consider their goals, aspirations, and present needs. By collaborating with each client, I work with you to relieve your symptoms and empower you to be your best self by encouraging self-awareness, meaning-making, and growth.

I have a passion for working with individuals with a history of trauma, caregivers (a parent of a child with an illness or disability; an adult caring for another adult), couples wanting to improve their relationship, and individuals facing a life transition (such as healing after a divorce or becoming a parent). I believe we always have room to grow and change.

Our modern world can be extremely fast-paced and impersonal. I see counseling as an opportunity for you to slow down, take a breath, and make the time to consider what it is you want or need AND how you can achieve balance and healing in your life. Call me with any questions or book an appointment today.

More Info About My Practice

My primary approach to counseling involves:
- Person-centered approach (I believe you are the expert on you)
- Trauma-informed (An environment that promotes emotional and psychological safety even when discussing difficult topics)
- Cognitive therapy (Understanding how your thoughts impact how you feel and act)
- Mindfulness (Non-judgemental focus on the present moment)
- Culturally sensitive (all people deserve a counselor who makes the effort to understand their unique background, ethnicity, identities, and belief system)

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

Personally, having once been reluctant to try therapy, I understand how vulnerable you might feel expressing your emotions, and I make it a priority to build trust and support you at every step. My goal is for you to feel safe sharing with me and encourage you to do the work necessary outside of therapy to make the changes you desire.
