My Approach to Helping

“Trauma creates change you DON’T choose. Healing is about creating change you DO choose.”- Michelle Rosenthal
Trauma is an experience, not an event. Every human will experience some form of trauma in their lifetime. We can’t compare one trauma to the next as it’s real to the individual experiencing it and we all deal with our experiences differently. Trauma is what happens inside of us because of what has happened to us. Trauma is rooted in how we internalized, processed, or did not process the events that occurred. The accumulation of events has a way of taking control of our thoughts and behaviors, whether we realize it or not. There is so much life to be lived beyond trauma. Although paralyzing at times, there is hope. It takes courage and effort to move beyond the pain that has maintained control of our thoughts and behaviors.

We all have the power of choice. It is a gift. But that power is often left untapped, and we become reactors to our lives, to our circumstances. Living a life of reaction leaves us powerless. Recognizing and taking ownership of our choices is the pathway to real life, to thriving. Although it’s a good thing to survive the difficult and painful stuff that happens in our lives, to go from survive to thrive is far better. It’s a powerful way to live.

The power of connection is immense and can have profound impact on our physical, emotional, and mental health. If you’ve been hurt by someone, whether it’s physical or emotional, you’ve got a choice or decision to make. You can use your energy to get well or get even. But you can’t do both. Living in a world as beautiful and broken as ours often involves unexpected twists and turns. It can leave your emotional world spinning out of control leaving you suffering through day-to-day life. If you have tried everything you can think of and you are still struggling to connect and feel hope, you have come to the right place. Hope, healing, and restoration can be yours.

As a relational therapist with a Christian worldview, I will help educate, enlighten, and empower you to experience whole-life transformation, MIND, BODY, and SOUL. I offer a unique mix of real-world experience from a professional life and my clinical training. I combine these perspectives, enabling you to enhance your life in a new way. I help clients of all ages with issues stemming from trauma, managing anxiety and depression, navigating life transitions, employ healthy boundaries, effectively communicate their needs, and a wide range of other mental health needs. I help clients reveal blockages to their growth and provide strategies for true change. I am passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families heal from past trauma that negatively impact their lives and relationships. I feel honored when people share their life’s story with me. My desire is to help lead people to inner healing, transformation, and wholeness. It would be a privilege to walk along side of you in this journey.
