My Approach to Helping
I am a Professional Counselor with a compassion to help people who need support and guidance. I specialize in trauma informed care, depression, anxiety, autism, PTSD, and addiction, as well as the issues that go along with these concerns. I work with children 6 years and older, teenagers, young adults, adults, and aging adults. I believe in using approaches that best fit a person and following the lead of the client as to where they would like their therapy to go.
The best approaches that are used in my therapy are CBT, DBT, TFCBT, seeking safety, trauma forms of care, SF, and MI, as well as some forms of art therapy techniques, writing techniques, and narrative techniques.
I work with male and female clients, ranging in age from 6-75. I am most comfortable with working with people that are struggling with depressionanxiety, traumaptsd, low self esteem, different forms of addictions, organizational problems, and lack of motivation. I work with clients that have TBI's.
I am very empathetic and a good listener, building rapport to meet the client as to where they are at and working with the client at their level. My goal is to make therapy as comfortable as possible for the client.
I have always been a people person, personable. I decided to go into therapy after seeing close friendsfamily struggle to get into therapy and finding a therapist that actually listens to their needs and use of approaches that they are comfortable with. I have had a passion for helping people and seeing the growth that occurs when they discover themselves again and use the skills that are helping them.
I listen to the client, let the client make the decision as to what they would like to work on and the approach that best fits their need.
I like to start to build rapport, getting the client used to therapy and me. Understanding the clients needs, what their end goal would be.
