My Approach to Helping
With over 20 years of clinical experience, I own and operate The Purpose Center. I focus my work on leading people and systems to develop their personal and professional health and growth. This includes helping professionals reduce their stress and bring more purpose and focus into their lives. I’m committed to helping you find the best path. Together we will explore and reprioritize your values, so you move onto the next, better stage of your life. We can rebuild your relationship foundation, reduce stress, and reengage in your own life. You can revision the good life you already have. Together we can develop a holistic plan for action that helps you develop healthy habits, grow personally and be a leader in your life and work. Given my work with families going through separation and divorce, I’m committed to help you prevent the disruption of your relationship. Couples counseling is a particularly difficult task to undertake. People often present to couples counseling when they are feeling desperate in their relationship. It is most beneficial for you to present early on in your relationship, before you have identified 'problems'. Working on building a strong foundation can help you develop what Dr. John Gottman coined as a "Sound Relationship House." This involves values clarification, trust and commitment, positive feelings towards your partner, sharing in life achievements, and conflict resolution. I also offer Discernment Counseling to help you reach confidence and clarity if you are trying to determine whether to work on your relationship or separate.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
We offer a holistic approach to help decrease stress, enhance relationships and contribute to greater health and well-being. We also offer something different. We help you focus on how to build what's positive in your life and prevent problems before they occur. When needed, we use evidence-based treatment approaches applied to a wide variety of life problems. We do not assume that you need the same thing as the next person in the waiting room. We provide individualized approaches to help maximize your full potential. Together we will help you understand and re-prioritize your values, set an action plan, and help you move onto the next, better stage of your life. The key to successful change is the relationship between the therapist and the client. While techniques are important, authenticity, warmth, and empathy are integral for people to flourish in, and outside of, counseling. We strive to treat the whole person, mind, body and spirit to help individuals and families decrease stress, enhance relationships, and realize overall greater health and well-being. With delicate issues at stake, therapy must be a good fit between professional and client. If KKJ is not the right fit for you, we can make referrals based on our knowledge and working relationships with others in the community.
