My Approach to Helping
"A caring listener with 10+ years of experience providing individuals with compassionate mental health support. I have served in hospitals, community outpatient clinics, and crisis agencies. For many years I had the privilege of working with our nation’s veterans and their families. I enjoy the challenge of helping people sort through stressors and develop strategies to improve their overall health. I strive to empower each client toward self-awareness and emotional growth and stability. I will partner with you to identify strengths, recognize areas for growth and broaden positive coping skills. I wholeheartedly believe it is possible for individuals to improve their lives and recover from traumatic experiences. Holistic approach. I am skilled in evidence-based practices including CBT, Mindfulness, and ACT. My focus is to help motivated clients improve their emotional understanding and coping skills. I enjoy educating others on how to challenge thoughts, clarify values, and emotionally regulate themselves by recognizing triggers, thought distortion, and the inner critic.
I am patient, casual, and nonjudgemental. Most people describe me as ""easy to talk to "". I listen with curiosity and help clients explore underlying themes and needs. I have always been naturally curious, positive, and people-oriented. Originally interested in nursing, I became increasingly fascinated with my psychology courses and the science involved in emotions and personality. Maintaining healthy relationships and connections doesn’t happen by default.
