My Approach to Helping
Are you searching for a therapist who can truly see you for who you are and help you see and appreciate yourself? Do you want a therapeutic experience that empowers you and equips you to overcome life's challenges? Are you seeking to enjoy life again, or perhaps for the first time, and to feel truly alive?
Katya Slivinskaya believes that healing and growth begin with recognizing and appreciating ourselves. In a world that often pressures us to conform and follow the same dreams and goals, it’s easy to lose touch with our true selves. Life feels unfulfilling when we aren’t connected to who we really are. Katya views life as a marvelous adventure, and each challenge as an opportunity to experience greater fulfillment and satisfaction. If working with Katya feels like the right fit for you, she is excited to guide you in meeting life’s challenges, healing old wounds, and transforming them into assets, all while staying true to your authentic self.
At Foundations Counseling, Katya Slivinskaya works with a wide range of clients seeking services such as:
Attachment, Couples, and Relationships – attachment styles, singles seeking partnership, couples counseling, codependency, healing from breakups, conscious uncoupling, alternative relationships, sex therapy
Existential and Spiritual Concerns – existential crises, quarter-life, and midlife crises, dark nights of the soul, identity crises, life transitions, career changes, grief and loss, stagnation and lack of motivation, religious and spiritual exploration, and challenges
High Performance and Fulfilling Personal Potential – life coaching, career counseling, creative blockages, self-worth and self-esteem, goal achievement and dream fulfillment, leadership, and the psychology of success
Holistic Health and Wellness – eating issues, stress, boundaries, addictions, anxiety, depression, self-care, obesity and weight concerns
Women’s Counseling – menarche, menstruation and menopause, parenting concerns at various stages, “mom guilt,” adult women seeking to heal relationships with their mothers, relationship and sex addiction
Katya Slivinskaya holds a bachelor of arts in both writing poetics and contemplative psychology from Naropa University. She then became certified as a health coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, where she practiced one-on-one coaching for more than 10 years. As a holistic health coach, Katya’s work addressed all areas of health, including spirituality, career, nutrition, and social well-being. She also received rigorous training to become a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (CIYT) and spent several years teaching yoga to individuals and groups, alongside her coaching practice.
Katya earned a master of social work degree from the University of Denver, with a concentration in mental health and trauma. Before joining Foundations, she worked for two years as a therapist and program manager, administering individual and group therapy while curating a holistic therapy program for individuals on probation and parole. Katya utilizes techniques from transpersonal therapy, somatic counseling, mindfulness-based counseling, attachment-based counseling, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Katya has extensive experience with diverse cultures and languages, having lived in several countries and international settings. She is particularly interested in the unique insights and wisdom held by both Indigenous and modern cultures regarding how to heal physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, and she integrates these perspectives into her work with clients.
