My Approach to Helping
Greetings! My name is Keith Mattson, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. I work with teens and adults and strive to match the best treatment modality with the individual needs of every client. Special focus areas of my practice include adjustment issues, anxiety, depression, griefloss, and trauma. Though I respect and prioritize the identified goals of every client, I also assist clients in addressing other issues that may emerge throughout the therapy process. Frequently used theoretical approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
I work with teens and adults who are seeking extra support to overcome anxiety and mood disorders, stress managementworkplace stressors, grief and loss, and trauma including intimate partner violence. The most often-shared feedback about my communication style is "seeing me without judgment". My goal for every client: is to feel seen, heard, and understood.
I work as a therapist because I have seen the benefits of quality therapy in my own life and the lives of friends and loved ones. I continue to practice and study, excited by the daily evidence that we can change our experience of life for the better. Initially, clients come to therapy with their own goals. This is where we begin. Clients learn skills to address their current needs, and this increases their confidence to take on other goals. Fist sessions focus on establishing a solid therapeutic alliance and prioritizing therapy needs and goals.
