My Approach to Helping

In-office sessions allow me to provide you both the highest level of support. I provide email support in-between sessions that really makes a difference for my clients that keep the focus on change. I have trained with some of the best in our field, Drs. John Gottman & Sue Johnson, innovators in research-based concepts that work, and well as Dr. Bill Doherty. The couples and co-parents that I work with are very capable in their own lives, so it's an honor when they contact me to work on things. In addition to being a Licensed Psychotherapist & Board Certified Life Coach, I have been a guest lecturer at local universities, as well as a presenter at The Connecticut Counseling Association and The Connecticut Council for Non-Adversarial Divorce. . Clients usually decide to come in because they need an objective person to assist them in getting unstuck & manifesting more of their goals. By valuing your time & working hard together, we will gently shift challenges that you are struggling with. I have over 25 years combined experience in psychotherapy, education and business to draw from. I believe in a high level of service & so my office is designed to relax and comfort my clients. I encourage you if you are wondering if I can be helpful to you, to contact me and we can explore possibilities.

My clients tell me that they appreciate the ability to practice slowing down in sessions and that it lowers emotional and physical distress. I help my client's process issues by listening to them, looking for the themes that are revealed, and providing direct feedback. In our daily lives, how often do we have someone who has advanced training in psychotherapy, coaching, problem solving, providing empathy & acceptance, and assessment, listening to us? The assistance I provide honors each client's journey; I look forward to connecting with you to uncover possibilities.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

Therapy or coaching initially occurs more frequently in the beginning as many clients come into the process experiencing a significant amount of stress. Also, when a client's issues are on the surface as they most often are in the beginning, it can be an opportune time to work with them before the issues sometimes settle back down below the surface once life's challenges and routine's kick in. We start to spread out sessions when need so clients can get more data in-between sessions.

What Makes up a Problem?

The problems (impasses) that couples and co-parents experience are usually negative cycles relating to: communication, parenting, money, career, sex and health. I specifically help you navigate these impasses and find ways to compromise, I provide direct feedback in doing so! Clients have expressed to me that working with me has been specific, active, useful and that I can give different examples of ways to get through the impasses. First, of course, clients are validated and supported for their experiences.
