My Approach to Helping

What is Mental Health? What Does it Mean to be Mentally Healthy? Mental Health and wellness can actually be quite simple. It refers to your functioning and interacting within the world. Can you carry on day after day, interacting with others while dealing with stress, conflict, or problems? Here are some questions to help you consider the status of your mental wellbeing:

Can you make and maintain relationships with your peers?
Are you functioning well and feeling satisfied with your work or school performance?
Can you be humorous?
Are you able to adapt and change when necessary?
Do you like yourself?
Can you identify your strengths and weaknesses?
Can you deal with conflict?
Do you have a variety of coping strategies to draw on when you’re stressed?
Can you accept responsibility for your actions?
Can you problem solve?
Are you able to reason and think clearly?
Do you have insight into what’s happening to you or around you?
Are you able to make judgments about your choices and what is best for a situation?
Have you contemplated questions about the purpose of life?
Do have self-control over your emotions and behavior?
With our life energy, our inherent survival instincts and natural tendencies to strive for wellbeing, cultivating and maintaining mental health is accomplished with a process of healthy habits and practices on a regular basis, like our physical health.

We all move in and out and along a continuum of both mental and physical wellness. Asking yourself these questions helps you understand where you currently are on that continuum.

Where do you see yourself?

More Info About My Practice

Attending to the health of your place and relationship with Nature enhances the health of your relationships with yourself and others, and supports living a good, purposeful, balanced path through Life. I enjoy helping people change by learning ways to improve these relationships, better handle the problems of life, and strive towards living fully and thriving. Mental and emotional wellbeing is actually quite simple: like physical health, it depends upon establishing and maintaining healthy routines. Together, we explore your usual approaches to living, and determine ways for you to become more personally effective and resilient.
The quality of relationship with your therapist is as important as any technique or theoretical orientation for successful counseling. My warm, common sense approach and caring, attentive, educating style serves in cultivating strengths and accountability, leading you to be true to yourself, find your direction and clarify how to step forward and live well.
I have a comfortable indoor office, and 'outdoor offices' of certain places in and around Half Moon Bay. My focus is facilitating your mental and emotional well-being, through teaching effective habits and practices. For more information and scheduling appointments, contact me by email or phone. I am looking forward to walking with you on your journey!
