My Approach to Helping
The journey toward one's best self can be challenging! I partner with my clients to address specific needs of the individual in a safe environment. It has been my experience that behavior that is not helpful or skills that are not useful are the result of adaptation. Simply put, we do what we can with what we know! People come to counseling because the tools they are currently using are no longer working. I recognize that the client is the true expert in his or her own life and empower the individual with a strength based approach to therapy.
I am a level II EMDR trauma therapist and believe that reprocessing traumatic events drastically assists with the resolution of emotional conflicts and adaptive defensive behaviors that have developed as a result, but are no longer helpful.
I had the honor of being the featured Alumna for Phoenix Focus magazine. Feel free to read the article and learn more about me. Phoenix Focus March 2010 Issue.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I enjoy working with adolescents and their families. Adolescents face many changes developmentally, as well as with their identity within their social networks, and in their families. I understand that their desire for autonomy coupled with the parents' desire to remain in "control" can come with some challenges while learning to navigate these changes.
What I Usually Need to Know to Help
It is important as the therapist to identify the goals and desires the client wishes to achieve as a result of successful interventions.
