My Approach to Helping
I believe that people are extraordinary beings that are full of potential and growth. At times we get stuck and we lose sight of or potential. My role as a therapist is to help couples, individuals, and families rediscover their potential and strengths so that they can start to move forward toward their goals again. In sitting with people and applying interventions that are tailored to how they wish to move forward, I hope to build a collaboration with my clients that will spur on that intrinsic growth and healing.
As a therapist that specializes in sensitive topics such as trauma and sexual issues, I strive to create an environment that is safe, welcoming, and non-judgemental. A place where you are free to just be.
More Info About My Practice
I have worked in the mental health field for 8 years. I started out working with adolescents and families in a non-profit community mental health agency. In my capacity as a clinician with this agency, I gained vast experience and knowledge in trauma, sexual abuse, and other mental illnesses.
For the past 3 years, I have worked in private practice working with an array of different issues, with sexual issues being the primary area of focus. I am an ally to the LGBTQIA and kink community. By being a sex-positive therapist, I strive to create a non-judgemental space for everyone whether you are; gay, lesbian, heterosexual, Christian, or Agnostic.
There are times when we as parents have a difficult time with talking about sex with our children. I provide a space for parents to come in and strategize ways of talking to their children about sex that is honest, informative, and adheres to the family's values in a sex-positive manner.
