My Approach to Helping
I believe that healing starts with self-compassion, and working with me looks like challenging your mindset with kindness. I create a warm, non-judgmental space where you feel seen, heard, and understood. We start by building your coping skills, ensuring you feel grounded before diving deeper into the work. You will learn how to manage your emotions, reduce anxiety, and find new ways to cope with depression.
As a Black female therapist, I understand the unique cultural experiences that can impact your mental health. My goal is to help you heal, build self-esteem, and embrace a more fulfilling life, knowing you have the support and understanding you deserve.
I want you to know that you are valued and don't have to be strong in this therapeutic space.
More Info About My Practice
My practice is entirely virtual, allowing you to access therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own home, anywhere in New York State. I understand that affordability can be a barrier to receiving quality mental health care, so I offer a sliding scale to accommodate different financial situations. Additionally, I provide superbills for clients who want to use their out-of-network insurance benefits, making it easier for you to get reimbursed. My goal is to make therapy accessible, supportive, and tailored to meet your individual needs.
How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist
My personal journey through trauma has shaped me into a more empathetic and compassionate therapist. Surviving domestic violence and overcoming the loss of a child taught me the value of self-compassion and resilience. I understand how hard it is to share your story, and I bring genuine empathy into every session. My own healing has made me patient, non-judgmental, and committed to helping you navigate your pain. I believe in your capacity to heal because I?ve been through it myself, and I?m here to support you on your path to recovery.
