My Approach to Helping
My approach to therapy comes from a person centered lens and systems approach. In short, this means I approach every person that I have the honor to work with as the experts on their own lives and the many factors that effect their overall well-being. I approach every client with curiosity and unconditional positive regard while guiding them to see themselves through this lens as well. In session, patients can expect talk therapy with principles of behavior change techniques weaved in to provide some tools to meet their personal goals.
I have experience treating people with a wide range diagnoses. I have worked extensively with clients who have sought support for their anxiety, depression, eating disorders, family issues, relationship issues, grief, chronic illness fertility journeys, transitions to adulthood, and many others. I am especially passionate about being a therapist to other therapists and working with people on their relationship to food and their body. I utilize a HAES approach that guides how I work with clients on their self-image and preconceived notions about food.
With a warm, thoughtful, honest, and at times humorous approach, I work with my clients to identify tools to align their values with their words and actions. I cultivate space for clients to be compassionate towards themselves and others while they find the spaces to make change.
