My Approach to Helping
Kristen provides counseling services to a diverse range of clients with various treatment needs. Her style of interacting with clients is relaxed, supportive, and collaborative. An important part of counseling is education to help clients gain new perspectives and facilitate change in thoughts and behaviors. Clients are the experts in their own lives, and the counselor is the expert on creating change. This partnership helps to identify needs and an effective plan and solutions. Counseling is a place where clients can be honest with their thoughts, feelings, and opinions without fear of judgment. In the process of counseling, clients are able to strengthen confidence, and relationships, and improve overall quality of life. Kristen has 14 years of professional experience and has been independently licensed as a professional counselor since 2012. She is currently licensed with the state of Arizona as a licensed professional counselor and has a master-addiction counselor certification from the National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC). She has experience in treating clients with anxiety, depression, substance use issues, borderline personality, and eating issues. She is passionate about helping all clients. She enjoys working with veterans to adjust to life after the military. She is trained in utilizing motivational interviewing, solution-focused brief therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy. She has a passion for helping clients see their own goals and using counseling tools to help them reach those goals.
