My Approach to Helping
Are you struggling with increased stress in your life related to anxiety, depression, problems at home, school, relationship issues with peers, dating, family, or other life transitions? In this fast-paced world full of constant change, many life challenges are, at times, more than one can handle on their own. Whether it is processing past trauma or learning new strategies for coping with current stressors, you are showing personal strength and courage by taking the first step towards healing. I have experience working with children, adolescents, families, couples, and adults. I have extensive training in treating trauma and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. I believe that a great therapist has a good sense of humor, is relatable, accepting, supportive, compassionate, and ultimately passionate about the work he or she does every day to help others. I believe in working in partnership with clients, utilizing their strengths to help them sort out their challenges and achieve their goals. I believe that it is tremendously important to treat clients with a holistic approach. I am a solution-focused therapist and emphasize the "here and now." Treatment will focus on past events as they pertain to and impact present situations. I will listen actively, give feedback accordingly, and provide a comfortable, culturally sensitive therapeutic environment. I am passionate about empowering clients to find hope, healing, and wholeness. I genuinely believe that people can move on from their past and present circumstances to live the life they have always dreamed of. My clients are the experts in their own lives; I guide them to find new ways of healing and being. I stand by using a collaborative approach with clients to find solutions to the concerns that bring you to counseling in a supportive and non-judgmental space.
