My Approach to Helping
Kristy Peters, LCPC, LCADC, I have much experience working with adolescents and adults. I have a mindful and trauma-informed approach. I am compassionate, and without judgment because we all walk a different path.
I have an eclectic approach, some of which include mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing.
I work with adolescents and adults. I work a lot with anxiety, stress, trauma, and substance abuse.
I have a calm and relaxed environment, without judgment or pressure. I believe in meeting a person "where they are at” because it helps determine the direction of the client’s goals.
My journey is special to me because after years of dreaming about becoming a therapist, I made it happen. I achieved my goal!
I work in unison with my client to establish appropriate and attainable goals.
I work on building a rapport through gentle questioning, determining the client's concerns, and what they would like to achieve through counseling. The first session is about developing a comfortable working relationship so the client feels safe and without feeling judged.
