My Approach to Helping
If you are looking for an experienced counselor, I am here to help you make positive changes in your life. My expertise is in the area of girls' and women's mental health, and I have written four books about these issues, including my most recent parenting book Swimming Upstream: Parenting Girls for Resilience in a Toxic Culture (Oxford U. Press). In addition to girls' and women's issues, I can help with depression and anxiety, eating disorders and body image, grief, perfectionism, spirituality, relationship and family conflict, identity issues, and sexual assault and trauma recovery.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process
I know its hard to ask for help and to admit that life isn't working the way you would like right now. I realize that continuing to do the same thing, even if it is not helping, is often the easiest path to take. But I encourage you to make the effort to take that courageous first step out of the downward cycle in which you might find yourself. Choosing therapy is the right step for many people because it allows them a place to be fully authentic in a relationship with a caring therapist who can walk alongside them as they start the journey towards healing. I look forward to working with you and helping you find the path that will bring meaning and purpose back to your life.
