My Approach to Helping
I create a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to share their story and be heard. I work with clients from all cultural backgrounds with various presenting issues. It is my belief that therapy is best conducted as a collaborative process whereby we create a therapeutic plan using evidence-based approaches in conjunction with clients' goals, culturalspiritual lens, personality and experiences. I support clients by helping them to draw from their strengths and develop self-compassion as they engage in the therapeutic process.
I help clients navigate their challenges by drawing upon various therapeutic models such as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, brainspotting, internal family systems (IFS), mindfulness, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and I am trained in providing trauma-informed care. I work from the belief that every person has the capacity for change, and that I can be a supportive resource to help facilitate that change.
Taking your first step to seek counselling requires courage. In the words of Brené Brown, "our stories are not meant for everyone. Hearing them is a privilege," and this is a privilege that I do not take lightly. I look forward to the opportunity to come alongside you wherever you are at on your journey.
