My Approach to Helping

How sure are you about your relationships? Do you have a difficult child...strained family relationships...emotional distance from your partner? Is hurt or anxiety is preventing you from being the parent, spouse, partner, friend, or person you want to be? Now is your time... the choices are yours, and I will be by your side as we explore what you want to change in your life. My clients tell me that my straightforward, caring, and personalized approach is both refreshing and comforting. I can provide you a safe place to open up and experience change.

No matter what life issues you are struggling with, together we can find your way to healing. I have experience and training in multiple domains, spanning over two decades, that I am confident you will find valuable to your healing and change process. I can help you transform your fears into love and build the relationships you can be sure of.

More Info About My Practice

If you are looking for relationship counseling, I have specialized training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, the most evidenced-based model for treating couples.

I co-lead a Women's Group that is absolutely amazing - these women get real and dig deep every week!

I offer Parent Workshops and Groups to help you provide a therapeutic environment at home - contact me for more information!

I hold the following Certifications:

Great Behavior Breakdown - Post Institute
A relationship-focused parenting paradigm that addresses the root issues beneath 27 of the most challenging child behavior problems.

Positive Parenting Program (Standard and Pathways) Triple P America
An evidence-based, multi-level, parenting and family support strategy that aims to prevent behavioral, emotional and developmental problems in children by enhancing the knowledge, skills and confidence of parents.

Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) -
An evidence-based, relationship-focused crisis management protocol developed by Cornell University for residential child care facilities.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I am in the process of certification for Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. I have already completed the Externship and Core Skills 1, 2, 3, and 4; Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, and select other EFT trainings.

I hold a special place in my heart for women who are in a transitional period of their lives and trying to find their authentic selves. Whether you are struggling with empty nest, single parenting, newly married or remarried, parenting a child with special needs, raising a grandchild, in the process of divorce... or just need to address self-care....I am here to help you find the real you!

I have a passion for helping adoptive families find security, attachment, and healing. As an adoptive parent myself, I have a genuine understanding of the adoptive parent's perspective. I have experience working with traumatized families and parents of infants, toddlers, and young children with behavioral problems.

Are you exhausted from trying one new parenting technique after another, only to find that the problems have become even worse than before? That's because the solution is not in the type of discipline you use - it is in the relationship you build with your child. Rather than trying one more new parenting program, I can help you let go of past hurts and build family relationships that feel safe, secure, and even fun!

Theoretical Influences that Guide My Work

My therapeutic philosophy is strongly influenced by the research and theories of B. Bryan Post, of The Post Institute and Dr. Bruce Perry of the Child Trauma Academy, as well as Bruce Lipton, Daniel Amen, Daniel Goleman, and others in the field of neuroscience. Their work is based on understanding the trauma and processing the stress in order to change behavior.
