My Approach to Helping
I want to make therapy as comfortable as possible for my clients. Coming to therapy can be an intimidating process. The last thing people want is some stuffy, uptight professional people feel like they need to censor themselves around. I pride myself in being warm, friendly, and relatable. I view therapy as a collaboration between the therapist and client. I will do my best to make your therapy experience positive. My role is to listen, teach, and collaborate with my clients.
I have worked in a variety of settings since embarking on my journey as a mental health clinician including hospice care, domestic violence, community mental health, intensive outpatient, and urgent mental healthcare. My preference is to work with mature adolescents and adults of all ages both in person and virtually.
I am client centered. It is important for clients to feel heard and understood. I have a large toolbox but most often utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic approaches.
More Info About My Practice
Forming a healthy therapeutic relationship is incredibly important. I tend to have a warm, conversational approach. I make people feel comfortable and work collaboratively with clients throughout the treatment process. I have heard so many horror stories from clients about their prior mental health experiences. I want to make sure your experience is beneficial and you feel cared for like you deserve. I like to find a balance of processing and teaching skills and concepts.
I also know that finances can make obtaining mental health services challenging which is why I offer self pay and now have partnered with Grow Therapy to accept several insurance carriers.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I love seeing people heal and grow. To see individuals overcome panic attacks, take care of themselves without guilt, improve their self esteem, engage in healthy relationships, and leave toxic situations. These things bring my heart joy. Life is hard. I'm here to be there for the challenging times, but also to celebrate with you when you succeed. This work is emotionally laborious, but it matters, and it really helps people - which makes it so worth it. This is my passion.
