My Approach to Helping
I have worked with adults and adolescents, individually and in groups, for over 18 years. Along the way, I have been inspired and honored to help facilitate hope and change with many people. I have worked in the fields of parenting, trauma recovery, addictions, and personal power and wellness. I have partnered with clients to help manage stress, anxiety, depression, and relationship struggles. I intend to bring hope, kindness, and information in a safe and comfortable space. In my work with people recovering from trauma or dealing with anxiety or stress, I utilize a variety of coping and relaxation techniques, including meditation, imagery, progressive muscle relaxation and other relaxation practices, cognitive restructuring, and expressive art projects. Working with addictions, I have a strong knowledge of 12-step recovery and alternate approaches. I am certified in EMDR, an effective treatment for trauma. I hold a Holistic Health Coach Certification from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I am a Certified Tai Chi Chih instructor and very much enjoy the practice. Tai Chi Chih is a moving meditation that is easy to learn and can be calming and energizing with all types of benefits.
