My Approach to Helping
Dr. Lisa Cooper-Lucas is a corporate trainer, consultant, educator, and mental health practitioner licensed in Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia. Dr. Lisa has over 25 years of experience providing behavioral health care, developing, and administering clinical operations, and managing behavioral health and medical personnel in a variety of settings, which include: Johns Hopkins University and Hospital, Magellan Behavioral Health, and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). Dr. Lisa holds certifications as a Trauma-informed therapist, a Certified Employee Assistance Professional, a Master Addictions Counselor, and a Department of Transportation (DOT)-Qualified Substance Abuse Professional. Dr. Lisa is also a Trauma-Informed Mental Health First Aid responder to local and national disasters. Recognized as a highly skilled and trained trauma clinician, Dr. Lisa was recruited following the attacks on 911 by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) to provide care to employees and their families impacted by the catastrophic events of that day. In addition to her clinical mental health expertise, Dr. Lisa has experience in the integration of medical and clinical interventions that address comorbid behavioral diagnoses of depression and anxiety with medical diagnoses of diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, hypertension, substance use issues, and other medical conditions. Dr. Lisa is proficient in providing executive-, management-, and supervisory-level consultation and operational guidance for commercial and public safety personnel; and currently provides program development expertise for Arlington (VA) County Government public safety (Police, Sheriff, Fire, and Emergency Call Center personnel) as the Public Safety Wellness Coordinator.
