My Approach to Helping
Therapy means many different things to different people. For some it is a journey of growth, self-awareness, and healing. For others it is necessary for them to survive. For some it is something they are mandated to do, and for many it is something they really want to do. No matter where you fall on this spectrum, I am here to support you through your process. Therapy is about where you are, where you want to go, what you want to explore, and joining you on your experience. I am here to listen, to guide you, focus you, support you and push you when needed.
More Info About My Practice
I received my Master's degree from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California and have completed training with children, adults, couples, groups and families. My experience includes: drugalcohol treatment, trauma, physicalverbalsexual abuse issues, relationship dynamics with family, couples dynamics, and coparenting.
In addition to my clinical experience I also bring corporate experience. For 22 years I have worked for a Fortune 500 Biotech company, excelling from individual contributor to management. This organizational experience allows me to know the demands of worklife balance, challenges of a demanding profession and the struggles of managing and leading teams.
My fee is $170 per 50 minute session for Individual and $200 per 50 minute session for Couples or Coparenting. I accept cash, check and Venmo. Sliding scale is available. I do not accept insurance, however I provide a statement per month that can be submitted to your insurance for reimbursement. This statement can also be held until the end of the year to file as medical expenses not covered by insurance and be a tax write off.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I am able to listen to all of my clients and take some of what they need to leave in my office. You can vent to me, problem solve, cry, scream, and let out all that is on your mind. It is your time, and the part I like the most is being able to be there for each of you. It may be a time of need, it may be a time of sorting things out, it may be a hopeless place, no matter what it is, I am there for each of you. I can walk away each night knowing that I was there for each of you. I will walk away knowing that I provided support, empathy, guidance, an ear to hear all that you are dealing with. Some sessions may end with knowing you got a lot off of your chest, some sessions will end putting the pieces together, and some sessions may end solving a long time problem. Knowing I could play a small part in your journey is what I appreciate the most about this line of work.
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
Sometimes realizing that we need help is the hardest part of all. It's hard to admit to ourselves that we can't do it all on our own, yet this may be the first step to feeling better. We are all hesitant about change and taking steps in our lives. It is common to feel this way, even therapists feel this way at times. I am here to help you with this transition and determine if it is the right step for you.
