My Approach to Helping
Approach: I use a balance of intuition, analysis, compassion, and curiosity. My clients appreciate the warm presence I bring into sessions that allows them to relax and become curious about their own experiences. I typically allow my clients to take the driver's seat as I believe that as long as they are given the right tools and general structure, they are the experts on themselves and usually just need support in finding ways to tune in.
If I feel that my clients are stuck at tuning into their own needs and experiences, I have no problem with creating some structure for where to begin and where to explore with different tools for addressing the symptoms and where the root of those may have come from with helping them identify possible patterns and connections.
Results: I try to identify quantifiable goals to some extent within the first 5 sessions to create a plan of where we are heading towards, having clear ideas of generally how long therapy might take, and how will we know when we are done. The results can look different for everyone based on my clients desires, and I always check in to see if progress is being made.
I've worked with a wide range of clients with different ages from teens through people in their 60s as well as quite a bit of work with couples.
