My Approach to Helping
I explore with the Client where they are currently at in their journey and what is working and not working for them. I then help the Client to identify what they want to have different in their life and collaborate with them to develop the plan of how to achieve it. The focus is on putting together the pieces to find balance and moderation in all areas of life.
More Info About My Practice
Since I am both a Licensed Marriage, Family Therapist & a Registered Dietitian I work with both the physical as well as the psychological health. I also have a therapy dog (ZsaZsa) in the office, which often helps clients to feel calmer & more relaxed. I am not a provider for any insurance companies but I do offer a sliding scale fee based upon financial need.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
My favorite client to work with is someone who doesn't understand why they continue to do things that are causing problems in their life but really wants to change that. I find it fascinating to help them figure themselves out so they get that "ah-ha moment" & realize that they (& their behavior/choices) make sense.
My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
The purpose of psychotherapy is to help each person put together the pieces of the puzzles of their life so they make sense to themselves & then they can make sense to others &/or change the way they choose to respond to the world.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I love being a therapist because each day is as unique as each person who comes in is. :)
My Role as a Therapist
My role as therapist is to come along beside a person, meet them where they are at, look at their past in order to understand them, help them to make sense of themselves, then help them to achieve the changes they want in order to change their experience of the world.
