My Approach to Helping
Are you tired of struggling to understand and manage your feelings? Does pain from childhood or a significant event effect your relationships now? Do you feelings and beliefs about yourself, others and the world hold you back from living a more satisfying life? I would like to help you with these and other issues.
I offer Hakomi and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy which are body-based mindfulness techniques that can help you work on healing traumatic and childhood wounds. This is ideal for clients who want to work on a deeper level in therapy and grow toward being more present in life.
Here are some areas Mind-Body therapy can focus on: strengthening the connection between cognitive beliefs and how the body reacts to these beliefs; working with how trauma impacts breath by completing unresolved trauma responses in the nervous system; and studying the tension in your heart that comes from past hurts so it can release to make room for more joy. This is a gentle, yet powerful therapy that is done at your pace, and in collaboration, as we walk the memories and experiences of your life. You are welcome at any level of mindfulness experience.
I am also trained in EMDR which is a highly effective method of therapy which use the brains organic capacity to heal trauma and developmental wounds. I can work with a combination of Sensorimotor and EMDR techniques to offer clients a rich therapeutic experience. I also use the AIR Network which helps reduce dissociation, enabling you to be more present and gain more understanding of your inside life experience.
Other techniques I utilize in therapy are: cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectic behavior therapy (DBT) modified for individuals, spirituality and Anchored Relational Therapy (formally known as AIR Network) for dissociation.
I will guide you in the process of learning how to heal yourself. Together we can work toward your growing sense of peace and self-acceptance.
