My Approach to Helping
I believe that while personal growth is a lifelong process, therapy shouldn't be. That's why I use methods of psychotherapy that have been proven to improve clients' quality of life in a reasonable amount of time. My approach to psychotherapy is informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Beginning psychotherapy can be a turning point for the better because it can lead to a whole new way of experiencing life.
More Info About My Practice
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is about helping you to live a rich and meaningful life, in part by becoming fully in contact with the present moment, as well as by pursuing and nurturing those things that most matter to you. In therapy, we will work to develop and improve your ability to deal with difficult experiences so that you can live in accordance with your values.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I especially enjoy working with LGBT clients, as well as clients who have problems with depression and anxiety. I also enjoy working with clients who want to change an addictive behavior. For clients who have PTSD or other trauma-related concerns, I offer Cognitive Processing Therapy, an evidence-based psychotherapy suited to that specific purpose.
