My Approach to Helping
I am licensed as a clinical social worker both in the District of Columbia and Maryland. My Master's degree in Social Work was obtained from Howard University and my Master's degree in Social Sciences was obtained from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. I have been in practice for about seven years at outpatient mental health clinics working with adults. Prior to that, I worked as a social worker for six years with at-risk children, youth, and their families. My areas of specialty include anxiety, trauma, depression, interpersonal conflict, stress management, and life transitions. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, systems theory, and strengths perspective. In our work together, I will use my clinical acumen and critical thinking skills to empower you and teach coping skills to help you gain insight, problem-solve, and heal. As both a mental health professional and a client, I am passionate about all areas of mental health, including practice, policy, and research. In my spare time, I enjoy working out, meditating, reading, listening to music, writing, and all things pertaining to holistic approaches to health and wellness (mental, physical, and spiritual). My mission as a mental health professional is to inspire, educate, and empower others struggling with mental health to lead fulfilling, vibrant, independent, and impactful lives. Here's to you and your mental health and your overall well-being!
