My Approach to Helping
Hello! I'm Lydia! When working with clients, I like to use creative and mindfulness techniques to help guide the healing process. Some things very important to me are advocacy, yoga, and art. I am active in the LGBTQ community and work in my community legislatively to hopefully change policy and bring awareness. In my free time, I like to go on hikes with my dog Arya or practice yoga and meditation to help me feel grounded. When I want to connect to myself deeper or just feel creative I spend time working on my art.
I practice a variety of acceptance and mindfulness practices that are evidence-based treatment modalities tailored to meet your individual needs. These types of modalities include EMDR, Yoga Therapy, Sex Therapy, Psychodynamic, and Dialectical Informed Art Therapy. My areas of specialization include the treatment of mood, and personality disorders, sex therapy related to desire and intimacy issues, and trauma and attachment issues. I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their lives. I don't believe that there is a limit to human capacity. I think the main reason we develop mental health issues is that they are unhealthy learned behaviors that we have picked up along the way. This means that I think you can unlearn faulty behaviors and replace them with healthy ones.
Are you having trouble with people or situations in your life? Has your life become unrecognizable? Does it feel like you are in a rut, and nothing is changing? As the days go by, do you find yourself wondering if there is more to life? I can help you rediscover yourself and claim your life once again. Call and set up an appointment and get working on the life that you want. Take charge and create the future you have dreamed of!
I have a person-centered approach. I have been told I have a calming demeanor and that my tone has been stabilizing and relaxing.
It is an honor to do the work that I do and walk with folks on their path. I am trained in social work master's level and have been working since 2014 In that time I have worked in community mental health, inpatient, and private practice.
The first session is to figure out your treatment plan and how to best help you. I will talk with you about the risks and benefits of therapy and get a better idea about your goals. Depending on your goals, I may incorporate EMDR, Art therapy, yoga therapy, or energy psychology such as EFTtapping.
