My Approach to Helping
I draw from CBT and DBT, focusing on the power of thoughts and the power of emotions. Many therapies focus more on coping skills, which is effective but does not address deeply rooted issues for change. My approach digs deeper into core beliefs with the goal of engendering self awareness and change.
More Info About My Practice
Clients describe me as "kind" and "warm-hearted." I often bring humor into the therapy room when appropriate. My job is to help you live the life you deserve and get "unstuck" from negative thinking and behaving, and learn how to manage uncomfortable emotions. Together we work towards living a more self assured and peaceful life.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I've met my own lions' share of struggles with "messy life stuff" and mental health challenges from adolescence through early adulthood. It is for this reason that this work is a calling to me. First, I've been grateful to have had mental health professionals that believed in me and helped me to the shore when I didn't think I could swim - and they did this without an ounce of pretension or judgement. Second, my journey has not only given me wisdom (I'd like to think so at least) but has also humbled me. I will always meet a client where they are without admonishment or lecturing or ounce of judgment.
