My Approach to Helping
Everyone needs help navigating life sometimes. If you are struggling to cope with parts of your past, wanting to make a change, getting stuck in the loop of maladaptive behaviors, or just feeling overwhelmed with life, counseling can be a great place to get relief from burdens holding you back and a place to make room for personal growth. My goal is to provide you with an emotionally safe place to work through your struggles, help you gain deeper insight and clarity into your problems, and deliver evidence-based treatment approaches. I am a licensed psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience in the realm of mental health, substance abuse, criminal justice, and EAP counseling. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Using practices from a multitude of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, Mindfulness, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), Prolonged Exposure, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Relational Life Therapy (RLT), I have helped thousands of clients deepen their understanding of their “stuck points,” learn tools to better navigate their challenges, and work through healing from various traumas. Some specialty areas include various addictions, trauma disorders, first responder and Veteran specific issues, anxiety and panic disorders, and marriage and relationship problems including infidelity and divorce. I also have experience working with clients struggling with issues related to their sexual identity. Evening and weekend hours are limited.
