My Approach to Helping
Hi, I am Mark M Miller LPC, LAC, LMFT. I have been in the mental health field for over 20+ years. I have a master’s degree in marriage. I am a licensed professional counselor and addiction counselor in the state of Colorado. I am approved as a licensed marriage and family therapist along with a fellowship member and a supervisor in training with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapist (AAMFT). I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) with The Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE) and an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) in training with this organization as well.

My approach is that of a pragmatist. I have a big toolbox of techniques and approaches and will do what works best for you by using my D.A.D. M.U.D. E.E, V. I. R. T.U. E approach which integrates all traditional and newer individual and system (Marriage and Family Therapy) models.
D – De- escalate problem and conflict
A – Assess – how you affect the problem and system and how the problem and system affect you
D – Diagnosis and define the problem
M- How to measure progress
U – Underlining meaning, protection, survival, and how the solution has become the problem
D - Differentiation of self (wise mind, be self in relationships)
E – Increase emotional intelligence
E – Psycho -education - Be educated on what we know about the issues and best practices and explore how to best apply them
V – Virtue – create habit of doing good and produce favorable outcomes
I - Imagery - Cognitive distortions, problem-saturated stories and perceptions
R – Rewrite problem-saturated stories and imagery, reward helpful imagery
T- Transactions, how imagery affects self-efficacy (belief in self) and relationships
U - Create unconditional acceptance towards self and other
E – Evaluate progress
