My Approach to Helping
My approach is warm, insight-oriented, and collaborative with the intention of creating a space that feels accepting and affirming. I view psychotherapy as a vessel for us to safely explore, develop, relate, and change. Together we will begin to understand how past experiences impact your current behaviors and relationships, as well as identify the aspects of your life that you want to be different. In this process, we likely learn how some thoughts and behaviors that have been adaptive are not as helpful today.
You are the expert about your life, and I am here to witness your life with compassionate curiosity, helping you to understand your self more fully. Developing a more authentic and coherent self relies on the depth and integrity of the relationship between therapist and client. It is within this new relationship that you will learn to experience and communicate your feelings, identify your wants and needs, and make sense of past and present experiences. Within the process of understanding emotional experiences and developing insight, we often discover and clarify what is important and meaningful.
