My Approach to Helping
My belief in and commitment to the benefits of therapy support my practice. I see our work together as a collaborative process: you are the expert on the experiences of your life; I will provide skills for better navigating and resolving the difficulties. Through our mutual collaboration, I will offer reflection, examination and tools designed to facilitate the change you want to see in your life. Our work together will include my gaining an understanding of what has worked for you in the past and what hasn't worked, providing ideas and perhaps materials that will inform and enlighten our work toward resolution of the difficulties.
I am honored that you may choose me as your therapist, and I promise to work hard to earn and keep your trust, confidence, and respect. I want to hear your questions or concerns about any aspect of our work together, including the therapy process, finances, or me.
More Info About My Practice
My professional training includes a Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Social Work as well as additional training in family and couples therapy, including the Gottman Model for working with couples. I have been in practice for 25 years in the Chicago area, primarily in the Lakeview area but also in Evanston.
In order to facilitate our work, I'm on several insurance panels and am happy to coordinate with the insurance company. Please notify me of your insurance coverage and provide phone numbers and group identification. It is best if you give me that information early. However, I'm fully aware that sometimes when we feel the need for the most assistance in our lives, we don't have insurance. If you do not have insurance coverage, I'm happy to discuss and work out with you a mutually agreeable arrangement for fees.
Part of my commitment to you includes occasional telephone conversations. Calls that last up to 15 or 20 minutes will not be charged. Fees for longer and prearranged calls will be discussed.
