My Approach to Helping
I work with adult individuals and couples who are struggling with uncertainty, life transitions, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, family, relationship problems, and codependency. I also work with parenting issues and caring for aging parents. I have special interest in working with adult children from dysfunctional family settings, parents of transgender offspring, individuals living beyond addiction recovery, and family and friends of those with alcohol and substance use disorders. I have knowledge and experience with twelve step programs and am available for program-specific counseling guidance and fourth and fifth step work. I am Adlerian trained and take a humanistic approach to my work and engage in therapeutic techniques that match client need. I assist clients from every background, including interfaith, intercultural, interracial and LGTBQ+ expand their possibilities and live fully and freely.
I bring a wealth of real-life experience to my work. I have firsthand knowledge of the trials and tribulations of marriage and relationships, divorce, work-life balance, child rearing, learning disorders, death and dying, grief and loss, religion and spirituality, addiction and recovery, mental and physical illness, and letting go of unhealthy relationships. I am here to help you work through responses to life experiences that may no longer serve you. I take a practical approach to therapy to help you get to the root of your issues and find immediate and long-term solutions to what is holding you back from living your best life.
My methods are collaborative. I believe that each individual knows what is best for themselves but often need professional guidance figuring out what that is. I will work with you, directing you as appropriate, to gain insight and learn skills to help you find personal contentment as you reach for your potential.
