My Approach to Helping
My style is direct, genuine, empathic, and intuitive. In sessions, I strive to provide a different experience for you - one where you are heard and given honest reflection and insight. We focus on increased self-awareness, breaking old patterns, and learning new ways of relating to yourself and others. My intention is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space to discuss whatever you wish to bring in.
Therapy with me is depth-oriented, meaning that we work on exploring the roots of what's happening to you, rather than just coming up with solutions to your symptoms. I weave in family history, early trauma, dream exploration, race, class, and gender to bring about a new understanding of you.
Rather than just focusing on the past, I help you move forward by exploring how to do things differently in the present with the information that we uncover. I welcome all parts of you that may come forward in the process of therapy.
More Info About My Practice
If you're struggling with the discomfort of anxiety, depression, feeling stuck, burnt-out, or giving more than you are getting in your relationships, these are signs telling you it's time for a change. I work with individuals and couples that want to shift destructive patterns such as co-dependency, self-criticism, poor boundaries, or using substances to cope with life. Together we will explore your habits, creating a narrative for what's led you to your present circumstances. Building a sense of awareness can help you feel more empowered and in control, allowing you to slowly integrate desired changes. I am curious to know you, your story, and your goals. I assist you in learning new ways to manage that which no longer serves you, and provide a confidential space to process thoughts and feelings. Our work together can help to increase self-esteem, reduce shame, and manage stress.
