My Approach to Helping
Virtual and in-person therapy in South Lake Union for everyone who wants a happier life and better relationships
A lot of clients come to me feeling overwhelmed by daily anxieties, overthinking, and uncertainty.
They work really hard to pretend they’re okay by keeping themselves busy and hoping to keep the anxiety, depression, and overwhelm at bay. They feel lonely or isolated, especially in their relationships. And they're
struggling to figure out how to stop having the same fights over and over again. They feel trapped in their role as perpetual caretaker, with their own needs rarely addressed.
Maybe you can relate. And, you’re ready for therapy.
You’re sick of feeling stuck. You’ve tried your best on your own to shake those big feelings, but you’re just not making enough progress. And you can even see where change needs to happen, but you just don’t know how. That’s where I come in. Together we’ll explore how these unwanted patterns happened in the first place. And, how you can have the type of relationships and life you want even if it seems impossible.
I’m passionate about helping folks dealing with loneliness, anxiety, depression, and other relational issues so that they can have the type of relationships and life they want! It’s never easy to find a therapist.
I enjoy working with a wide variety of folks who come from all types of cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, races, and ethnicities, and religions (including the wide array of denominations within Christianity). I also have experience with people who have ADHD, and who are dealing with Chronic Pain.
More Info About My Practice
I know that it can be difficult for a person of color to see a white, male, therapist. I don’t pretend to be color-blind or ignorant of my privilege. And I welcome discussions about differences, privilege, and identity. I want to understand (as best I can) what your experience is like living in your body. Therefore I will always continue to learn and grow, especially in areas concerning gender, race, ethnicity, and sexual identity.
I intentionally create an environment where clients can take up space. I have a laid-back demeanor and recognize that even in the midst of hardship there is healing in levity and humor. I come as my authentic self and encourage my clients to do the same.
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
If you were like me and grew up in a family that discouraged therapy and mental health in general, then it can be especially daunting, intimidating, or even scary to even look for a therapist, which is why I try to make therapy as comfortable and relaxed as possible. Of course it can be hard to talk about your problems and emotions with a stranger. That being said, I'm very laid back, chill by nature, and love to laugh and joke around.
Unfortunately, all humans are susceptible to experiencing profound loneliness, overwhlemig stress, anxieties, and depression.
In working together, we can come up with some helpful tools and resources to help you right away, so you can start feeling better NOW. We will also look at the root causes and patterns from the past that continue show up and cause discomfort in the present. We will work to break these patterns so that you can have the type of relationships you want with yourself, your partner, family, and friends. And ultimately you can have a better future!
