My Approach to Helping

Feeling overwhelmed by the state of the world? Life's ongoing stressors have you frozen? Know that you need to take action, but aren't sure where to start? Well, I've got you :)

Hi, my name is Max, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker - Supervisor and long-time therapist; I'm also the founder and Director of Behavioral Health at Prism Integrated Health. I spelled out my entire title because it tells you a little bit about the lens through which I view the world, my professional experience, and how we might work together.

First, in addition to the psychology of mental health, social workers are taught to consider and question how your environment impacts you - which gives us a whole-person perspective on therapy; even right now, you're a whole person, not simply a diagnosis.

Second, my supervisor designation means that I've done a lot of extra training to be an exemplary therapist - and that I teach others how to be great therapists as well.

And third, my role as an entrepreneur tells you that I'm motivated, up-to-date on research, and can work with folks of all experiences and personalities.

My therapeutic style is eclectic - which allows me to mix and match lots of different techniques together to create something totally unique to you. I'm always highly relational and value the strength or the therapeutic relationship above all else. You're not a "patient", and this is not a cold setting where you lay on my couch and tell me all your woes. We are a collaborative team. Sometimes it's my job to listen, other times it's my job to teach, sometimes it's my job to coach. Often, I'm your biggest fan, or the dumpster that contains your fire, or a resource for information and connections. At all times, I'm here for you.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I love that every single day is different, and that I get show up and create genuine relationships, and provide space and visibility and healing for people in my community.
