My Approach to Helping
I have been a clinical social worker for 15 years supporting clients in jails, courtrooms, hospitals, primary care clinics and emergency rooms. The breadth of my practice has shown me that people want to experience peace, feel self-worth, and have meaningful connections. These desires are not unique but are the bricks that pave the pathway to healing and connecting with our best selves. Navigating the healing journey to true self-discovery is unique to each person.
My therapeutic approach is client-centered and based on the fundamental belief that through empathic listening, authenticity, empowerment, and mindful insight we can move towards healing and a sense of fulfillment. I draw from a cognitive behavioral approach utilizing mindfulness and acceptance skills to address symptom management and treatment goals. I emphasize the development of self-awareness to facilitate cognitive change, identify self-defeating behaviors, and regulate emotions.
My goal is to act as a facilitator for my clients to explore their own inward freedom, to accept yourself, and to understand your own experiences and welcome compassionate curiosity about your feelings. Our time together will be collaborative and unique to your individual needs. I understand connecting with a counselor can possibly feel overwhelming and uncomfortable. I am here to help and hold space without judgment. I look forward to exploring with you and holding the light on your path to healing.
