My Approach to Helping
I believe that we all have unique strengths and perspectives that are valuable and can serve as a foundation for growth and development. In therapy, I help you to recognize and accept your strengths and see the positives in the areas you may see negatively. I take a strengths-based, integrative approach in therapy. I have worked with a wide range of ages, including children, teens, and adults on issues including depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, grief, loss, anger, and trauma. I specialize in working with neurodivergent clients, including autistic and ADHD clients and those with intellectual disabilities and Down Syndrome.
I utilize a mix of therapy approaches that are tailored to your needs and interests, including humanistic, person-centered, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and art therapy. I treat you as the expert in yourself and view my role as guiding you to find helpful ways to express and cope with emotions and consider new ways of thinking about experiences.
As an art therapist, I use the power of art to allow for unique methods of self-expression, communication, and regulation. Art can also be used to augment traditional methods of talk therapy to provide a very impactful, positive experience. You can expect to work with a wide variety of media depending on your unique strengths and goals in therapy.
